His first year at Porto saw him help the European Champions to the European Super Cup (scoring in the first leg at the Amsterdam Arena) and Intercontinental Cup, as well as the league title. Adding that to the 12 goals he scored, he was voted the Portuguese footballer of that year, ensuring him a ticket to Juventus.
He started both other european finals with Zoff's Juventus and Wenger's Monaco.
On return to Porto he helped the team to 5 consecutive league titles.
